Moira’s Magical Fairy Garden come to life
Barberton Nursery School's annual concert, Moira’s Magical Fairy Garden, enchanted audiences with tiny snails, buzzing bees, wriggling caterpillars and playful rabbits.

The magic of childhood came alive when Barberton Nursery School transformed the stage into an enchanted garden for its annual concert, Moira’s Magical Fairy Garden. With tiny snails, wriggling caterpillars, buzzing bees and dashing rabbits, the little performers reminded their audience that even the smallest creatures have an important place in the world.
Held at Barberton High School, the concert transported parents, grandparents and guests into a whimsical fairy garden, with the school hall beautifully transformed by props lovingly created by the dedicated nursery school staff.
The young performers delighted the audience with their various characters, bringing the enchanted garden to life through their colourful costumes, enthusiastic performances and plenty of childhood charm. From the baby snails making their way across the stage to the buzzing bees and energetic rabbits, each little star played a part in creating a memorable production.

The staff also joined in the fun with a special performance as The Pests, much to the amusement of the audience. The concert concluded with a special nativity play, adding a meaningful touch to the celebrations.
Principal Monique Heunis expressed her pride in the children, praising them for their courage in stepping onto the big stage and bringing the magical garden to life so beautifully. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff members whose hard work, creativity and commitment made the production possible, both during the preparations and on the day.
While the concert provided plenty of entertainment, its message reached beyond the colourful costumes and enchanting performances. The production was a tribute to Moira Boshoff, who has a fairy garden at the back door of her classroom, and reflected an important lesson the school strives to teach its young learners.
Children are often fascinated by the Big Five, and rightly so, but the nursery school wanted to remind them that the natural world is made up of much more than its famous giants. The smallest creatures are equally deserving of attention, care and protection.

The message was simple but meaningful: while the Big Five are magnificent, learning to appreciate the wonders of nature begins with noticing the little things around us. A caterpillar, a snail or a buzzing bee might seem insignificant at first glance, but each has a place in the world and deserves to be treated with care.
By turning this lesson into a magical stage production, the school gave its learners an opportunity to explore the natural world through imagination, music and performance, while sharing that message with their families and the wider community.
The concert was enjoyed by parents, grandparents and guests, and served as a reminder that some of life's most valuable lessons can be found in the smallest of places. At Barberton Nursery School, the fairy garden was not only a setting for a concert, but also a celebration of curiosity, kindness and respect for all living things.
