Your community. Your story. Your voice. Your platform.

De Kaap Echo is adding a Letters section to our website, a space for readers to share their opinions, concerns, and ideas about Barberton and the community we all love.

At De Kaap Echo, our heartbeat has always been the Barberton community, its people, its stories, and its everyday triumphs and challenges. We’ve shared the laughter, celebrated the milestones, and highlighted the moments that make our town unique.

We stated right from the start that we are not going to publish political or hard news, as we needed to focus only on the good, the historical aspect of our unique town and the day to day of its people. There is just too much bad happening out there, we felt we don’t want you to read about it in our publication too.

We know that behind every story lies a conversation waiting to happen, and it’s time to give you the space to have it.

We’re excited to announce a new addition to our website: the “Letters” section. This is your opportunity to speak up, share your thoughts, and start the conversations that matter most.

We also want to let you know that these letters will not appear on our Facebook page but only on our website, so you will need to log into dekaapecho.com or download the app so that you have access to respond under this category. It is free and takes seconds.

Whether there’s something in Barberton that warms your heart, or something that needs to change, this is your platform to say it on. From service delivery frustrations and environmental concerns to praise for local heroes or ideas for improving our town, we invite you to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and let your voice be heard.

We’ll publish selected letters online, where readers can respond and engage in constructive dialogue. In cases where your letter raises important issues, De Kaap Echo may also forward it to the appropriate authorities or community leaders for comment.

We believe that progress begins with open conversation. The “Letters” section is not a place for complaints alone, it’s a space for collaboration, for sharing perspectives, and for strengthening the connection between our people and the place we all call home.

Please remember: these letters represent your personal opinions, not those of De Kaap Echo. But every voice matters, and we want to make sure yours is heard.

You can send your letters to Lynette at lynette@iologuemedia.com

Together, let’s keep Barberton talking, openly, respectfully, and passionately.
