The Grade R and RR learners of Laerskool Barberton, affectionately known as the Daisies, closed off their year in style this week with their annual concert and graduation ceremony.
This year’s theme, “Daisies Mix,” set the tone for a colourful, energetic evening. Young hosts Cohan Höll and Theo Makhanya welcomed the audience before the children took to the stage.
Instead of a traditional storyline, the concert showcased a series of lively dance items performed to a mix of popular songs, allowing each group to shine in their own way.
After the concert, the Grade R learners changed into their graduation gowns, each proudly receiving a medal and certificate. With big smiles and even bigger excitement, they are now ready to take on big school.

Parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends filled the hall, and their enthusiasm made the evening even more special. The teachers, Karen Heunis, Merlé Joubert, and Jolene Venebles, were deeply touched by the warm and positive feedback they received.
Karen said that the children had been practising for weeks, even rehearsing on the Laerskool’s main stage several times to get used to performing in front of a crowd. “They were thrilled each time the school bus came to fetch them for practice,” she said. The Daisies ended their year on a truly high note, a celebration of growth, confidence, and pure childhood joy.
